Clifford's Big School Visit!

Did you know, Clifford came to visit our school last week!  What an exciting visit!  The children listened to the Clifford story, then got to meet Clifford himself, give him hugs and get a sticker from him!
The kids had so much fun and did such a great job listening to the story!  If you would like to visit Clifford with your child he is at the Bettendorf Family Museum!
Before he left, Clifford left each class a Clifford book, signed by Clifford himself!

What a fun Jr. Theatre Visit!

Today we were excited to have Miss Megan from the Jr. Theatre program come visit us!  We learned what actors do.  We learned about "emotions" and how to show our emotions on our faces. We learned about "projecting" our voices, just like actors do on a stage.  We also learned the big word "pantomime"!

First, she got us up and moving and stretching...just like actors do before going on stage!

                          More stretching!

We warmed up our faces...                                                          and made silly faces!

Then we had a chance to act!  Each child had the chance
to act like an animal and the rest of the children were able
to guess what animal it was!

Check back tomorrow, I may be able to post more pictures of our Jr. Theatre visit!

Fire Safety with Firefighter Zach

Children's Village at Hayes was fortunate enough to have firefighter Zach come and talk to the children about fire safety. He brought with him a smoke detector, his fire gear, and examples of things the children should not play with (ie: matches, lighter, etc...) He went over "Stop, Drop, and Roll," who to call when there is a fire, and what to do if their is a fire in your house. He then put on his fire gear to show the children that they should not be afraid or hide from firefighters. He also told the importance of not going back into a fire to get any belongings and told them the reason firefighters could was due to all of their protective gear. Here are a few pictures from his visit.
